When Scania installed a new production line in Argentina, they turned to Finstansteknik. The result? A critical machine with micron-level precision, and a partnership built on trust and commitment.
The Challenge:

The machine installed in Argentina is an evolution of a solution Finstansteknik had previously delivered to Scania in Sweden. Around 80 percent of the line is identical, but with key upgrades and improvements.
The machine is a critical part of production: cutting carbon fiber sheets into exact shapes with a one-micron tolerance. Essential for gearbox performance.
“This is a very precise task, and not every supplier can handle this level. If the machine stops, the entire line is at risk,” says Alvaro Evaristo Hernandez at Scania Argentina.
The Collaboration:
From Sweden to Argentina: A close cooperation
From the start, the project was built on close cooperation. Finstansteknik prepared the machine in Sweden, holding weekly follow-ups with the Scania team in Argentina.
Once completed, Scania representatives traveled to Sweden for approval and testing, before the machine was shipped to Argentina and installed together with Finstansteknik’s engineers.
“Everybody was surprised when their CEO personally came here and was present in every detail. That’s not something you normally see. It added extra weight and real value for us,” Alvaro recalls.
“This is a very precise task, and not many suppliers can deliver at this level. If the machine stops, everything stops.”

The Solution, Results & Impact:
With the constant precision of one-micron tolerance
Since installation, the machine has been running flawlessly, day after day. Two operators manage the entire line, which produces thousands of parts with the constant precision of one-micron tolerance.
“We know we can rely on Finstansteknik for spare parts and support. That gives us confidence in a production process that is absolutely vital for our operations,” Alvaro explains.
The Partnership going forward:
From a long-term investment to a strong relationship
Scania Argentina views the collaboration as a long-term investment. Spare parts and tools are replaced regularly, and the relationship with Finstansteknik remains strong.
